Hi guys,
I just wanted to share the vision I have for the guild come Cataclysm. Nothing is set in stone yet and I want to have some discussion about the direction we go in. I'm currently petitioning a GM to pass guild master to Aeis. I had been in contact with Urduja, but our schedules didn't line up to pass it before his account expired.
We're all pretty savvy players, experienced in raiding, but more casual nowadays. My time is limited and I can't commit to 3-5 days of raiding a week. Fortunately come cata players like myself will have more opportunity to see the end-game content. The 10m raid format in wotlk has worked really well, making everything more accessible. This is going to be continued into cata with some changes. I would like Catharsis to be primarily a 10m raiding guild. We'd schedule 2-3 days a week for raids. Ideally a 2hr night during the week and a longer night on the weekend.
There is going to be a huge contingent of people leveling new toons come cata. I want to tap into this and advertise/recruit as a casual/leveling/friendly guild, along with having a core group for 10m. I can't wait to level my Worgen Warrior! A diverse range of levels and new players hitting the level cap can be a great resource over the life of the expansion. I'm getting waaayyyy ahead of myself here though.
Part one of all this is actually getting to the release. I expect it to be months away so we have some time to dwell. In the meantime keep an eye out for recruits. Decent people please. I don't have patience for the epeen-etards. I'll be trying to convince some friends and family to join up. I'll also be leveling my DK and looking for strays.
So. Any comments, ideas, directions? I'm looking forward to this.
Matt

WoW raiding has definitely become casual friendly and as much as I share your vision, there will be challenges in the way. The main one is actually finding casual players who will be happy being a casual player. I know this was one of our goals in the last expansion, but all that purple pulled us in and next thing we know we were recruiting for 25-man raids, which eventually blew up in our faces.
Anyway, I'll probably be back for the next expansion playing my rogue or pala, we'll see and hopefully others will be around so that we can have some good times a couple nights a week. _________________ I have a dream that my four little alts will one day hit 80 on a server where they will not be judged by the color of their gear but by the content of their template. |

| I'm pretty sure I'll be playing, and I think Tiril will too. I gotta stick to the casual player thing, because my work schedule is all over the place, so I can't commit to raiding. Also, my girlfriend might plug in her hairdryer and blow the circuit breaker so that I'll have to stop playing when she wants me to. SIGH |
